Design 2226 Caribe Owl
This contact sheet is the best I can do for images of this interesting boat. The yacht represents advanced design thinking for her time for a shoal draft, light displacement cruising-racing ketch. She is constructed of fiberglass over an Airex core with foam cored longitudinal stiffeners. The centerboard arrangement is a bronze board within a bronze weldment for the centerboard trunk.
Very unusual for S&S to see a stern hung rudder in this 1975 design. Also note the bulkhead steerer on the aft end of the deckhouse.
The boat (structure and systems) was built by Joseph L. Conboy & Associates of Urbana, Virginia and the interior was then built and installed by Owens Yacht Company of Baltimore, Maryland.
