Design 1251 Simba



This shallow draft centerboarder was built by Joel Johnson of Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was launched in 1958. Construction was robust with a teak backbone, white oak frames and double planking: mahogany over cedar. Her garboard planks were of teak.

That's not a great image but it's the only one we have. Note Olin's signature: the owner asked him to sign it at some point. That was probably during our 75th Anniversary event at Mystic Seaport back in 2004, if I had to guess.
